Six Flags Great America

For many years, Six Flags Great America has been one of the top family vacations destinations.

Located in several cities throughout the United States, each Six Flags amusement park offers its own unique attractions.

In Gurnee, Illinois, Six Flags Great America is divided into eight different sections focused on unique themes, which are incorporated into all the decorations, restaurants, shops, characters and staff. You can visit whichever strikes your mood and fancy at the time.

During the park’s peak periods of July and August, guests looking for surf and sun can visit the Six Flags’ 15-acre water park. It includes water slides and wading pools to help beat the summer heat. The more daring tourists can brave the famous Roaring Rapids.

Children will never get bored with the variety of entertainment options. This Six Flags Great America has two separate theme parks specifically for kids. They both boast several rides, games and activities for youngsters.

In the month of October, visitors looking for a Halloween scare can brave the Fright Fest haunted house.

One of the park’s most popular rides is the Orbit, which is located in Hometown Square. Opened in 1976, the ride is similar to a classic Ferris Wheel with a twist. It circles passengers into the air, spinning them into a nearly vertical position. As it reaches its highest point, they are momentarily suspended upside down; perfect for those people who don’t mind a little blood rushing to their head.

Six Flags Great America is one of the premier amusement parks in the country. Few people can say they have never visited one of these historic theme parks and braved the many thrilling rides.
