Next time you find yourself in Northern Europe, make sure to visit one of its top attractions. A day at Alton Towers Theme Park guarantees a whirlwind occasion.

Located in Stroke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, it is consider Great Britain’s premier theme park. Originally created by Augustus Welby Pugin during the Victorian era, this amusement park now boasts some of the most exciting rides in the world.

Alton Towers was officially designated a theme park in 1980. Its first attraction was the Corkscrew ride. Every year, new rides continue to be added, including the extreme rollercoaster Nemesis and the innovative Oblivion.

The Nemesis treats guests to a thrilling ride. Located in the Forbidden Valley section of the park, visitors sit in this rollercoaster with their legs hanging over the edge.

Found in the X-sector of Alton Towers, the newly built Oblivion is the world’s first vertical-drop ride. Frightened riders plummet down a steep 90-degree slope into a gaping black hole.

Along with these attractions, guests to Alton Towers can visit this white-knuckle ride in the Forbidden Valley via the Skyride cable car system.

At the unique Ug Land, people can experience prehistoric times through a virtual-reality cave game.

Legend has it that the park has ghosts. Daring guests who visit the scary haunted mansions will experience the fright themselves.

Alton Towers is a fun experience for everyone in the family. Along with the scary roller coasters and water log rides, are designated locations with children’s rides. The park also boasts a variety of delicious restaurants.
